OUR MISSION

Unconventional Veteran is a non-profit organization that is putting the power of successful military transition to civilian life, back into the hands of the Veterans serving our country long before they exit the service.

OUR VISION

To live in a country with zero jobless Veterans, zero homeless Veterans, and zero Veterans committing suicide.

The Department of Labor reports 74% of Veterans have experienced a period of unemployment since leaving the military.

The Department of Veteran Affairs reports 24% of Veterans did not have a permanent place to live when they transitioned out of the military. They also reported that 75% of Veterans did not have a comprehensive financial plan during their transition out of the service.

The Department of Veteran Affairs estimate that 22 Veterans commit suicide every day. The equates to 1 in 5 suicides in our nation being a Veteran. Only 1% of the population of our nation is a Veteran, yet 20% of the daily suicides of the entire nation are Veterans.

You can never get prepared too early for transitioning from the military. Nobody wears the uniform forever, and for many of us that time comes sooner that we think. Finding my passion and purpose in life has helped me push forward and continue to be proud of not only being a Veteran, but proud of who I am as a person.

WHAT WE DO

Unconventional Veteran engages and develops relationships with public and private partners within the military and Veteran service community ecosystem to provide access to skill building resources and services once a Veteran has identified their passion and purpose via our guides and coursework. Utilizing Unconventional Veteran's tailored road-map and true north approach, connections to resources are provided to each Veteran with a clearly defined plan of action toward their next mission in life.

  • THE SITUATION
  • THE PROBLEM
  • THE SOLUTION

An estimated 1 million men and women are estimated to leave the military and transition to civilian life in the next four years. The current transition services offered to Veterans are both lacking and failing to meet the needs of those who have served our country. In 3 independent blind studies we found that an average of 83% of Veterans who transitioned from the military in the last four years found the standardized transition assistance program to be ineffective in meeting their needs. Each of these Veterans also expressed that they had far too little time to prepare for their transition while completing the mission during serving.
